10 WEEK CALENDAR
¤         Week 1: Adaptation
¤         Week 2: Group work—Ghost hunt and class presentation
¤         Week 3: Entering Dante’s Inferno (using Dante’s Inferno: A Wanderer in Hell as translation)
¤         Week 4: Ghost hunt group presentations and “Pick Your Poison” creative writing
¤         Week 5: Adapting life to story and story to life—The Fall Midterm exam and essay  
¤         Week 6: Myth and symbolism through the ages
¤         Week 7: Art and Architecture
¤         Week 8: Field trip assignment—MFAH Sculpture Garden
¤         Week 9: What is Metalanguage?
¤         Week 10: Final Project and Potluck




Major essays/projects:
¤         Powerpoint Presentation: 10%
¤         Creative Writing Projects: 10%
¤         Research Essay on Adaptation in _________ (student selection): 10%
¤         Daily Class Participation/Projects and Assigned Homework: 50%
Classwork and homework instructions will be explained in-class or on the course blog.  MLA-style formatting and citations are expected. 
¤         Midterm: 10%
¤         Final Project: 10%
